ABOUT US
Hoa’s parents were refugees from Vietnam and Laos who resettled in the U.S. Sunny’s family immigrated from South Korea to the U.S. for better opportunities. Our parents showed us the value of hustling and how a hard work ethic can lead to success, especially in the face of adversity. They are the inspiration for WE ARE CHIMMI.
WE ARE CHIMMI, short for "We Are Children of Immigrants," celebrates the immigrant hustle. We aim to connect with others through our passion for playful and nostalgic accessories and through building community that celebrates all of our unique cultures. We are committed to donating a portion of sales to organizations that support immigrants and marginalized communities.
Currently, we are donating to The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA). Organizations we have donated to in the past include:
NAACP Legal Defense Fund, The Equal Justice Initiative, The Ali Forney Center, The Young Center, Send Chinatown Love, Rethink, Welcome to Chinatown, Apex for Youth, It Gets Better Project, Refugee Council USA, Restore NYC, Asian Mental Health Project, New York Immigration Coalition, CAPE, National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, Meals for Unity, Children's Literacy Initiative, Save the Children, CA Fire Foundation, Immigration Equality. We find inspiration in each other and share stories from our communities, other founders, and the organizations we support. We invite you to #jointhehustle.
